Just a little blog for posting various creations for the BECMI / Rules Cyclopedia edition of Dungeons and Dragons. All hail the Red Box!
Updated whenever possible with a little something, whether a monster or spell or item or just a little list of whatevers.
I'm posting this here because I'd like to ask for your advice or help, but I couldn't get your "contact me" thingy in your profile to work and I don't want my players in my Thursday game to see this.
I'm needing a Big Bad for my Thursday night game (Labyrinth Lord with numerous hacks). I'd like it to be between 6 and 8 hit dice, humanoid, sentient, and something of a "solo" monster.
It's background is that it was enslaved/enchanted by elves as a guardian, and has been stuck in the basement for 700 years, long after the elves were driven off and the city reclaimed by jungle. It's either very long-lived, or kept in suspended animation and popped out like a trap when needed. Bonus if it captures its prey alive, since it's primarily meant as a trap/guardian and I can't imagine they'd want anything too deadly down there.
If we were playing AD&D, I'd probably use a naga or rakshasa, but I was curious to know if you'd either created something or knew something from BECMI that would fit the bill. I'm also tempted by the idea of creating a giant spider/Shelob type monstrosity. Any suggestions?
