Monster: Pearl Ooze

Pearl Ooze
Armour Class: 8
Hit Dice: 4*
Move: fly 120' (40')
Attacks: 1
Damage: 1-8
No. Appearing: 1-3
Save As: F3
Morale: 12
Treasure Type: Nil
Alignment: Neutral
XP Value: 125

A creeping, shimmering mass of gelatinous not-quite-syrup -- like most of its kind -- a pearl ooze most resembles a bizarre cross between half-fluid clotted cream and molten seashell. Faster than many oozes, it is more than capable of following after human prey.

The attack of a pearl ooze inflicts 1-8 hit points of damage and possesses a unique and conflicting property: contact with the nacraeous fluid of the ooze will grant a +2 bonus to Armour Class after 1-6 rounds of exposure, but that same fluid will force a save vs. death ray or an experience level is lost after 1-4 rounds.

Pearl oozes are immune to cold and electricity. Magic missiles will heal them rather than inflict damage.

Wow, this seems like a rough creature. I was wondering about it though.
The 12 movement is ok, especially if it's after humanoid creatures but what's with the flight ability?
The +2 to AC comes after 1 to 6 rounds...is that a permantent +2? Does this occur by being hit by the ooze? Is it culmative, i.e. if hit 3 times, do I get +6 to AC?
It's immune to some spells but I guess the rest have normal effect against it, what about weapons? Do normal weapons cause normal damage? Each weapon type (slashing, piercing, bludgeon) does normal damage?
Just a few questions I have that I am sure my party will be asking when I spring this beastie on them.
Thanx

@Chgowiz:

Hehehe ;3

@trollsmyth:

It's freakier that way! :D

@Lawrence:

The flight ability is there because I want it to fly.

The AC is a permanent bonus if the DM wants it to be. No it doesn't stack (unless, of course, the DM wants it to).

What you see is what you get, as far as attacking it. If there isn't a note about it, it's not something that has to be worried about. Unless there's a good reason to call out a specific kind of weapon, there's no need to note about "weapon types"; they aren't used in BEMCI.

I actually missed the bit where it flies until I read the comments. Oy! Wonder what it looks like when it moves... ;D

I like how it can be somewhat beneficial. Great way to lure a party into thinking "wait -- it's no so dangerous after all".

Did it never occur to you that you were writing a flying semen monster? Before publishing it, did you show it to anyone? Did they tell you that you had written an elaborate monster entry for for a flying puddle of man jelly?
If this is what you intended. then I applaud you; I have no doubt that my players will come to fear contact with the jiggly jizz monster more then that of any Lich Demon or Draogon.

@Anomymous:

I think it speaks more of yourself that you happen to see it that way, and feel the need to post here to that effect.

And, at that, without even having the brass to sign a name to your comment.

Good day, sir.

If you'll forgive my shamelessness, I'd like to say two things;
By putting a creation or statement onto the internet, publicly you are implicitly accepting the risk of immature jackasses using your legitimate creative enterprises as the basis for puerile humor; the option to comment anonymously is provided, is that not a valid way to offer criticism? (The validity of the criticism notwithstanding; I offer no defense of my own petty graffiti.)
And secondly, I would like to apologize for ruffling your feathers so very roughly; I hope I haven't dimmed your opinion of humanity, the internet, and yourself through my thoughtless, crude, and reprehensible statements.
On the non sarcastic side of things, kudos for using nacreous. I rather like that word.
